Back Porch Sunday Café (Adoration)

Lightly shuffling and rocking
I tap my fingers to the
Rolling notes of this countryside
French music bouncing
In the plumes of smoke
Swimming in air
Like phantom blue dragons
Born of my cigar.
The bubbled water
Tickles my cheeks
From the inside
I read Williams
Pause, smile
Anchor myself to the couch
Abandon the clouds
Nestled above the trees
And watch the rustling waves
Of invisible snakes
Careening throughout the grass—
Delight.
